  • Grant Updates

    Safe Routes to School (SRTS) – Illinois Funding Cycle: The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a new 2023 Funding Cycle for the Safe Routes to School Program. Both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects will be available beginning August 1 through October 2. The non-infrastructure program will have significant changes this cycle, and more information will be released.

    The MPO Transportation Technical Committee meeting is set for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Bi-State Regional Commission office.  Note the change in day of the week from Tuesday to Thursday to accommodate Illinois DOT Special Program Assistance Conference on June 13 and 14, noted in ‘Grant News”.

Quad Cities Street Map Update – Staff coordinates an update of this popular street map approximately every four years created by Seeger Map Co., out of Racine, WI by gathering updates to streets, city boundaries, points of interest, and other features from local jurisdictions and agencies such as the Quad Cities Chamber and Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Two sizes of maps will be ordered again, the “wall-sized” (51” x 42”), printed in full color on heavy paper and the folded version (40” x 28”), full color, printed on both sides.  Wall maps will be provided in limited quantities to member governments for no charge and available to the public and other organizations for a minimal cost.  Folded maps will be pre-ordered and available to the public as well. Trails Map for Washington DC Trip – Map showing major Quad Cities trails’ linkage to transcontinental National Trails:  the American Discovery Trail and the Mississippi River Trail – for local briefing  to congressional leaders in Washington DC.

Crash Study – Report of crashes that occur within the Quad Cities area with focused study on significant corridors and intersections.

2045 Long Range Transportation Plan Mapping – Mapping for the Quad Cities Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA) Long Range Transportation Plan.  The plan and corresponding maps forecast the Quad Cities Metropolitan Area's transportation needs over thirty years into the future. The plan examines road and highway needs and also transit, pedestrian/bicycle, rail and other intermodal transportation needs.

Blue Grass, Iowa – Zoning Map – Annual update of zoning boundaries map for the City.

Colona, Illinois – 2010 Census Count Question Resolution – Staff is providing mapping and data assistance to review boundaries used for the 2010 Census enumeration as well as examine housing unit counts by Census Block in order to submit a challenge of the counts through the Census’ Count Question Resolution (CQR) Program.

Colona, Illinois – Water and Sewer GIS Mapping – Staff is developing an inventory of water and sewer system infrastructure features in a GIS environment for the City.

Davenport School District – Hazard Mitigation Plan Mapping – Mapping for pre-disaster planning document.

Geneseo, Illinois – 2013 Census Boundary and Annexation Survey Mapping – Reviewed corporate boundaries for accuracy and submitted revisions to U.S. Census Bureau Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) Program.  The BAS Program allows local jurisdictions to review governmental boundary and legal name information to ensure accurate reporting of Census data for the ongoing, interdecennial Population Estimates Program and the American Community Survey and the decennial Census(es).

Geneseo, Illinois – Zoning Map Update – Using a parcel base layer from Henry County’s GIS Department and information provided by the City, staff is updating the City’s Zoning Map and checking accuracy of corporate limits and other features shown on the map.  The map also shows the City’s Historic District and Planned Use Development (PUD) District.

McCausland, Iowa – Comprehensive Plan Mapping – Staff is working with Bi-State planning staff and the City’s Steering Committee to provided an updated Future Land Use Map for the City’s updated Comprehensive Plan.

Milan, Illinois – 2010 Census Count Question Resolution – Staff is providing mapping and data assistance to review boundaries used for the 2010 Census enumeration as well as examine housing unit counts by Census Block in order to submit a challenge of the counts through the Census’ Count Question Resolution (CQR) Program.

Muscatine County, Iowa – Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Mapping – Staff is currently updating the Muscatine County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.  It provides participating jurisdictions access to FEMA mitigation grant funding and is updated every five years.  Updates to the Plan include review of historical occurrence, probability and vulnerability of hazards; updating demographics and community changes over the past five years; and reviewing goals and mitigation actions.  Maps included in this plan show flood hazard areas, soil characteristics, dams and levees, hazardous materials sites, repetitive flood loss properties, and existing and future land uses.  Mapping also shows the relationship between each community’s critical facilities and the hazards, so communities can make educated decisions on how best to protect those facilities.  The data behind these maps are also used in GIS to calculate total property values of critical facilities, levee inundation areas, and floodplains.

Orion, Illinois – Water System Map Update – Update of Water System Mapping for the Village.

Rock Island County – Update County Office Building Floor Plans – Create up-to-date floor plan layouts for four floors of Rock Island County Office Building with current room numbering, office names, and evacuation information.

Rural Township (Rock Island County, Illinois) – Census Count Question Resolution – Staff is providing mapping and data assistance to review boundaries used for the 2010 Census enumeration as well as examine housing unit counts by Census Block in order to submit a challenge of the counts through the Census’ Count Question Resolution (CQR) Program.
