Bridge Restriction notices
Millions of dollars are spent annually on maintenance and reconstruction projects in the Quad City Area. Maintaining the existing transportation system is one of the highest priorities of the urban area, particularly with aging infrastructure. The 2035 Quad City Long Range Transportation Plan outlines significant improvements to river crossing capacity to improve the flow of traffic in the metropolitan area.
During the CY2010 Construction Season, the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau in cooperation with other local organizations have partnered together to alert travelers that area businesses are open and ready to welcome patrons, even as bridge and road construction season gets underway. Visit www.KeepComingOurWay.com for travel options in the metro area.
Using alternative modes of transportation, such as buses, carpools, bicycling or walking, are encouraged to help reduce traffic congestion and maintain good air quality. Residents and visitors can consider transit options by contacting Bettendorf Transit at (563) 344-4085, Davenport Citibus at (563) 888-2151, or Metro at (309) 788-3360 or visiting www.qctransit.com. An upcoming special week “Quad City in Motion” challenging motorist to try these types of travel alternatives will be held May 17-22, 2010. Visit www.activateQC.org for details.
Media information in greater detail will be provided by the respective jurisdiction as the project approaches its construction period.
